Until we can end physical distancing due to COVID-19 all of our classes are being conducted as live, interactive webinars. Using GoToWebinar, we can create virtual classrooms with instructor-led training, and we can include input, questions, and feedback from each attendee. If the device you connect with does not have a microphone and speaker, you can use a dial-in phone number to speak directly with us. We have been conducting webinar-based training since 2010, and it seems that all of us will need to use this as platform well into the future. We encourage you to give it a try - we think you'll enjoy the experience!
CSI – Advanced Construction: Green Infrastructure
Stormwater permits have a Post Construction requirement for the implementation of green stormwater infrastructure. Whether it is a municipal or private development project, municipal and construction inspectors must understand the processes involved in the operation and maintenance of these unique systems, long-term. Earn your CSI Certification and you will understand how to inspect green infrastructure from the initial development phase through the transfer, long-term operation, and maintenance phases. This is an advanced course appropriate for all Construction and Development stormwater permittees, their consultants, and both Construction or Municipal Stormwater Inspectors.
This one-day course will include a review of traditional controls, such as silt fencing, retention and detention ponds. It will then cover hydrology, federal, effluent guidelines and advanced controls, such as green infrastructure. Most importantly, learn the four primary components of sustainable green infrastructure performance!
Testing will be conducted; students are required to achieve a minimum overall score of 75% to be awarded .7 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) from the National Stormwater Center and a five (5) year Inspector Certificate. This certification indicates that the services our graduates conduct are being performed by professionals who have met the established standards of knowledge, experience, and competence required in the field of stormwater inspections. The National Stormwater Center's CSI-MS4 class has been an integral part of the success of 7,333 municipal inspectors across the country.
This course is appropriate for all Construction & Development personnel, including Construction Inspectors, Municipal Stormwater Inspectors, and Environmental Consultants who typically have responsibility for:
- Construction Inspections
- Reporting and Signatory Certifications

- BMP Installations (silt fences, detention/retention ponds)
- Routine BMP Inspections
