TOPIC: "The Importance of Performance in Stormwater: A National Perspective and Local Considerations"

The stormwater sector and MS4 program are now hitting middle age as this program was established over 30 years ago. It is natural for us in this industry at this age to go through a midlife crisis and start wondering if what we've done has been worth it. Have we made a difference? In typical midlife mode, the gray hairs are starting to show in many of our systems as we see the rise of aging infrastructure driving forward and an aging workforce. As we reflect on the last 30+ years in stormwater, we need to take stock of what's worked, what hasn't, and what we can and should do about it moving forward. This is the basis of this presentation.
Dr. Seth Brown will provide an overview of the organization he leads - the National Municipal Stormwater Alliance (NMSA) - as well as paint a picture of national-level trends, issues, and topics that provide some perspective on where we are today, as a sector, and what challenges lie in front of us. In this context, Dr. Brown will share thoughts on how performance in stormwater infrastructure has been captured for both proprietary and public domain stormwater practices and will share details on a newly-launched performance testing program in the stormwater sector, and how this may shape the sector moving forward.
We are pleased to offer a series of monthly discussions on critical stormwater inspection issues. Called CSI Network these discussions are delivered via interactive webinars, and the topics apply to municipal, construction and industrial regulations, permits, and inspections. These discussion meetings are free to current Certified Stormwater Inspectors (CSI)™ while non-current CSI graduates, and the general public, can join sessions for a $25 registration fee. CSI Network meetings are scheduled for a Wednesday once monthly beginning at 1:00 PM EDT. Each session is schedule for no more than 90 minutes. Check the registration calendar for exact dates.

Registered participants will receive a Subject Statement by email that will identify the problems and potential solutions of each topic prior to each meeting. This will afford you the opportunity to prepare. Meeting presenters will be assisted by a manager to encourage discussions and to help you share your experiences with other inspectors.
